Qualifications:
1. High School graduate or equivalent (GED)
2. A minimum of 60 hours of college credit from an accredited institution of higher education
Reports to: High School Principal
Job Goal:
The goal of this position is to provide behavioral intervention and support to students in the high
school setting. The Academic Reassignment Behavior Intervention and Support Aide will work with
the building principal and counselor to coordinate Functional Assessments of Behavior and Behavior
Intervention Plan(s) that address students’ inappropriate behaviors and provide a means to help the
students become more academically and socially successful. This staff member will support classroom
and school-wide behavior management strategies.
Performance Responsibilities:
The minimum performance expectations include, but not limited to, the following
functions/tasks:
1. Reliable attendance and prompt arrival time.
2. Maintains and respects confidentiality of student and school personnel information;
3. Assists in ensuring the adequate safe supervision of all students;
4. Monitors student behavior and helps maintain discipline in the focus room; records time
out and in-class suspension.
5. Assists with data collection/entry and assessments for behavior support services for the purpose
of monitoring and reporting progress;
6. Constantly monitors the safety and well-being of students while in the focus room; monitors
student attitudes and encourages self esteem; assists students with conflict
resolution, works with student to become increasingly independent to facilitate a successful return
to the classroom setting;
7. Monitors students while assigned to Academic Reassignment (ISS)
8. In consultation with staff, carries out instructional plans (including student’s Individual
Educational Plan-IEP) and assists students with learning; reinforces and clarifies instructions;
conducts short sessions on improving behavior and study skills; provides
one-on-one assistance as needed;
9. Assists teacher(s) in maintaining a classroom management policy that fosters a safe and positive
environment for all students and staff;
10. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and
facilities.
11. Assists in ensuring the safe and proper physical movement of students from one learning
environment to another;
12. Attends required meetings and in-services;
13. Complies with and supports school and district regulations and policies;
14. Models non-discriminatory practices in all activities;
15. Performs other duties as assigned by building administrator(s) in accordance with school/division
policies and practices.
16. When needed will fill the role as a substitute teacher when assigned by building principal.

Conditions and Environment
The individual who holds this position will regularly work in a school environment that is noisy
and active. Occasionally the individual will be required to work outdoors for short periods of
time to perform such tasks as loading and unloading students from district transportation.
Terms of Employment: 165 day position. Salary determined annually by the Board of
Education.
Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board
of Education policy on evaluation of support staff.
