Job Description
Title: Special Education Paraprofessional
Qualifications:
- High School graduate or equivalent (GED).
Also one of the following:
- 36 college credit hours.
- Associate's degree or higher.
- Missouri ParaPro Assessment passing score (before September 23, 2013)
- Missouri Paraprofessional Assessment passing score (after September 23, 2013), or
- Completed Missouri's 20-hour inline substitute training program.
Reports to: Federal Programs Director and Building Level Principal
Job Goal: The goal of this position is to provide instructional support for certificated teachers that will assist them in meeting the varied needs of students.

Performance Responsibilities:
Duties of this position may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Prepare instructional materials
- Collect materials needed by the teacher in presenting a unit of work
- Assist in the arrangement of the learning environment
- Operate and care for equipment
- Assist in the administering and scoring of tests and assignments
- Work with individual students or small groups on activities that have been assigned by the teacher
- Assist with supervision of students both during instructional and non-instructional times
- Complete recordkeeping tasks assigned by the teacher
- Work as a one-on-one personal attendant for a student when assigned
- Perform other duties as assigned

Conditions and Environment
The individual who holds this position will regularly work in a school environment that is noisy and active. Occasionally the individual will be required to work outdoors for short periods of time to perform such tasks as loading and unloading students from district transportation and supervising recess.
Terms of Employment: 157 day position. Salary determined annually by the Board of Education.
Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board of Education policy on evaluation of support staff.
